Superintendent Linda L. Stoll announced today that the Wind Cave National Park Visitor Center will be closed on Christmas Day. Throughout the remainder of the winter, including New Year’s Day, the visitor center will be open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Stoll said, “Touring the cave or driving through the park provides an excellent opportunity to visit during the off-season and show visiting relatives a world- class cave and mixed-grass prairie.”

Cave tours are scheduled three times per day at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. Cave tours are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The park’s other attractions include wildlife viewing, 30 miles of hiking trails, and the outstanding view from the Rankin Ridge Fire Tower.

The visitor center features two exhibit rooms, an audio-visual program, and printed information highlighting the park’s resources. A bookstore operated by the Black Hills Parks and Forest Association offers books, maps, posters, audio tapes, and video tapes pertaining to the natural and cultural history of the park and region. National Parks Passes, along with Golden Age and Golden Access Passports, are also available at the visitor center.
