FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: War for Guam: A Film Showing and Panel DiscussionAs part of our monthly lecture series History Revealed, a special presentation of the compelling film War for Guam will be shown at the War in the Pacific National Historical Park’s T. Stell Newman Visitor Center on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 2:00 PM. Joining the program to discuss the film is a panel composed of the University of Guam’s, President Dr. Robert Underwood, and Lee Webber, noted columnist and former publisher of the Pacific Daily News. War for Guam conveys the story of the CHamoru’s loyalty to America and how they survived the brutalities of war under Japanese rule. The film also portrays the CHamorus’ disillusionment of the military taking of their lands following the liberation and the struggles to rebuild their lives. The T. Stell Newman Visitor Center is located on Marine Corps Drive, just outside the entrance to Naval Base Guam. Admission is free. The film is approximately one hour long followed by the panel discussion. For further information contact the park’s Cultural Resource Program Manager Dave Lotz at 671-477-7278 ext. 1008 or at david_lotz@nps.gov. |
