War in the Pacific National Historical Park Hosts Second Annual Art in the Park!

In celebration of the National Park Service's Centennial Anniversary, War in the Pacific National Historical Park and its non-profit cooperating association Pacific Historic Parks will be hosting its second annual Art in the Park program in a series of events in February and March.Art in the Park will involve the whole community in commemorating those who participated in the campaigns of the Pacific Theater during World War II.

Throughout the entire month of February, visit the T. Stell Newman Visitors Center in Sumay from 9:00am –4:00pm to reflect on the experiences of the people who lived and died in World War II.After learning about this significant event in Guam's history, everyone will be invited to decorate creatively a wooden tile provide by the park.The community will also get a chance to obtain a tile at on February 27 and March 5, 2016, at Asan Beach Park from 7:30am –1:00pm.At these 'Make A Mark in Your Park' events, we encourage all to experience the great outdoors and learn about Guam's history through creating art during their time at the park.

All of the tiles will be collected and installed at Asan Beach by a resident artist, Victor Perez.The Art in the Park installation display will be open for public viewing all day on March 12 and 13, 2016.The installation will showcase each's artwork at Asan Beach Park for everyone to see, enjoy, and make connections with the island's history.

All Art in the Park events is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
