July Public Programs at War in the Pacific National Historical Park

July 9, Saturday: 9:00 am at Asan Beach - "Keep Guam Beautiful"
This community cleanup will take place at Asan Beach - a former WWII invasion beach. Cold water in coolers, protective gloves, and trash bags will be provided. Please bring refillable water bottles and wear closed-toe shoes, hats, and sunscreen. For more information, please contact e-mail us.

July 9, Saturday: 2:00 pm at Visitor Center - "History Revealed - The Right to Fight:African Americans in the Marianas During World War II"
Join us for a presentation on African Americans in the battle for the Mariana Islands. (1 hour) 

July 17, Sunday: 2:00 pm at Visitor Center - "Science Sunday" Presentation
Science Sunday will feature Carlie Weiner, of the Schmidtt Ocean Institute, with a presentation about the scientific goals the research vessel Falkor will be conducting in the Mariana Islands. (1 hour)

July 21, Thursday:8:00 am at Asan Beach –Morning Colors on Liberation Day
Park Rangers will be performing a colors ceremony at the flags at 8:00 am in honor of Liberation Day.Join us at the beach where the 3rd Marine Division came ashore on July 21, 1944, at this honoring ceremony.Park Rangers will be available after the ceremony to describe the invasion which happened 72 years ago on this very spot.

July 30, Saturday:11:00 am to 4:00 pm at Visitor Center –The Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle
Join a park ranger in the visitor center anytime between 11 am and 4 pm to discuss the effect the Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle has had to the vegetation on Guam and the efforts to control it.

July 30, Saturday: 7:00 pm at Asan Beach - " –Astronomy Program"
Join the park's Dark Rangers at Asan Beach and experience out of this world family fun, excitement, and learn about nighttime astronomy. The Dark Rangers will be on hand to guide you through our night sky with their telescopes. See planets and other deep space objects!
