Come celebrate the National Park Service's 99th birthday on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 in the Visitor Center! Enjoy cake, conversation, and camaraderie with Park Rangers. The National Park Service established by Congress with the Organic Act and signed into law on August 25, 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson, embodies the ideas of America. The purpose of the National Park Service is"...to conserve the scenery and the natural and historic objects and wildlife therein and to provide for the enjoyment of the same i such manner and by such means as will leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations."

 

Today, there are over 400 National Park Service unites including Washita Battlefield National Historic Site. Please stop by the visitor center and join us in this momentous occasion as we celebrate 99 years and prepare for the centennial in 2016!
