On Friday, June 27, 2014, Vicksburg National Military Park will present the third of a three-part program highlighting the events of 1863. The programs will last approximately 1.5 hours and begin at 7:00 pm at the park's Visitor Center.

The concept of these programs is to illustrate that the Campaign and Siege of Vicksburg did not happen in a vacuum. There were campaigns occurring in each of the three main areas of operations during the summer of 1863 that were all interrelated and affected each other in execution and outcome. The program will be presented by Ranger Jake Koch and the topic discussed will be an overview of campaigns taking place in Middle Tennessee and North Georgia, including The Tullahoma Campaign, the Battle of Chickamauga, and the Battles for Chattanooga, with emphasis upon how those campaigns were affected by the Vicksburg Campaign and vice versa.

The first program, on Friday, June 13, discussed the Eastern Theatre including the Battles of Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. The second program, on Friday, June 20, concentrated on the Campaigns for the Mississippi River with an emphasis on Port Hudson. All three programs will soon be posted to the park's YouTube Channel.

The program will be held in the Visitor Center Auditorium. Doors will open at 6:30 pm with the program beginning at 7:00 pm. The Eastern National book and gift store will be open from 6:30 pm until 7:15 pm for your purchases.
