Monument is located on Union Avenue at the top of the first ravine beyond the Wisconsin Memorial. Also a marker designating the assault of 19 May 1863, 250' east of Confederate Avenue midway between Park Tour Stop #10 and the Glass Bayou Bridge; a marker designating the assault of 22 May 1863, 100' east of Confederate Avenue south of the Missouri Memorial and markers designating sharpshooter's lines 150' east of Confederate Avenue midway between Missouri Memorial and the Glass Bayou Bridge and on Union Avenue at Park Tour Stop #4. This unit was attached to Brig. Gen. Thomas E.G. Ransom's 2nd Brigade of Brig. Gen. John McArthur's 6th Division, Maj. Gen. James B. McPherson's XVII Army Corps and was commanded by Col. Thomas W. Humphrey (wounded 22 May 1863) & Lt. Col. Leander Blanden. |
