Iron tablet located on Confederate Avenue near Railroad Redoubt. This unit was attached to Brig. Gen. Edward D. Tracy's (killed 1 May 1863) and Col. Isham W. Garrott's (killed 17 June 1863) Brigade of Brig. Gen. John S. Bowen's Confederate Forces at the Battle of Port Gibson, MS. Later the regiment was attached to Brig. General Stephen Dill Lee's (assumed command 3 May 1863) 2d Brigade (Battle of Champion Hill, thereafter reorganized as the 3d Brigade) of Maj. Gen. Carter L. Stevenson's Division, Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton's Army of Vicksburg, and commanded by Col. Michael L. Woods (captured 16 May 1863), Lt. Col. Edmund W. Pettus, and Capt. George E. Brewer (assumed command 17 June 1863).
