Monument located on Confederate Avenue behind the Louisiana Memorial (Park Tour Stop 11). At the Battle of Chickasaw Bayou, this unit was attached to Brig. Gen. Louis Hébert’s 1st Brigade, of Maj. Gen. Dabney H. Maury’s Division, Maj. Gen. Carter L. Stevenson’s 2d Military District, in Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton’s Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana. During the Greenville Expedition, the regiment was assigned to Brig. Gen. Stephen D. Lee’s Reinforced Brigade, of Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton’s Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana. Afterwards, it was reattached to Brig. Gen. Louis Hébert’s 1st Brigade, of Maj. Gen. John H. Forney’s Division, Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton’s Army of Vicksburg, and commanded by Maj. David Pierson.
