Monument located on Confederate Avenue approximately 200 yards west of the Stockade Redan (Park Tour Stop 10). During the Greenville Expedition, the regiment was assigned to Brig. Gen. Stephen D. Lee's Reinforced Brigade, of Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton's Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana. Afterwards, it was attached to Brig. Gen. Francis A. Shoup's 3d Brigade of Maj. Gen. Martin Luther Smith's Division, Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton's Army of Vicksburg, and commanded by Col. Leon D. Marks (mortally wounded 28 June 1863), Lt. Col. L. L. McLaurin (killed 22 May 1863), Maj. Alexander S. Norwood (wounded 22 May 1863), and Capt. Joseph T. Hatch.
