Throughout 2016, the National Park Service (NPS) will be celebrating its 100th anniversary. The NPS was created in August of 1916 to care for our most precious public lands. Tumacácori will be celebrating with a variety of special programs throughout the coming year, including a Centennial Concert Series. The second of these concerts will take place inside the candle-lit mission church on Thursday, December 17, at 6:00 p.m. The December 17 concert will be presented by the Santa Cruz Singers. The community chorus, sponsored by the Santa Cruz Foundation for the Performing Arts and directed by Christina Wilhelm, will perform Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria in D. Admission to the park is $5.00 per adult, free for federal pass holders and children under age 16. There is no additional charge for the concert. While the historic church will be lit by candles for the performance, there is no heat in the open structure, and no lighting on the church grounds. Dress warmly, and bring a flashlight. Two more concerts are currently planned for the four-part Centennial Concert Series:
