Visitor Center Closed

The Tule Lake National Monument is closed for the winter season. Due to the historic nature of the both the Jail at the Tule Lake Segregation and Camp Tulelake,access to these areas are only available with a ranger guided tour. Tours can still be requested 2 weeks in advance by calling (530) 260 0537. The Visitor Center will reopen memorial day.

How Can I still Experience the Monument in the off season?

Viewing the Segregation Center- The Segregation Center can be viewed while driving along Highway 139 and by parking at the California State Historic Marker or at the gate along county road 176.

Viewing Camp Tulelake- Camp Tulelake can be viewed from the pullout along hill road.

Visit The Tulelake-Butte Valley Fairgrounds Museum- Visit the local history museum at Tulelake-Butte Valley Fairground to learn about the surrounding communities and to view a portion of an original barracks and guard tower.

 

Air Quality

On days when air quality reaches ‘Hazardous”, i.e. over 301 AQI, all non-emergency outdoor activities must stop, and moved to an indoor setting.
