Features

The NPS App was created by National Park Service staff—people who know national parks—to help you make the most of your visit. The NPS App takes authoritative information from park rangers and combines it with a great suite of features. Here’s a quick look at some of those features.

Interactive Map: See where you are located within the monument, find what is nearby; and show specific place locations on this enhanced map. It's a great way to find where everything is, or what is near you. If you've downloaded the app content ahead of your visit, the map will continue to work for you without an internet connection!

Park Tours: Can't make it to our tours? Self-guided tours take you on a journey to and around the monument. Discover the history of this region. It’s like having a ranger by your side to guide your trip, giving you directions to get there, and things to do once you arrive.

Amenities: It's the little—and sometimes not so little—things that can make or break a visit. Learn where you can find and access lodging, food, restrooms, shopping, and more.

Accessibility: The app provides audio description for many places and exhibits within the monument. The app also provides information about physically accessible places and points of interest within park.

Offline Use: No internet access? No problem! You can download content from entire parks for offline use. It’s especially handy if you’re exploring remote areas in parks or concerned about data limits.

Share Your Visit: Tell your friends and family about the fun things you did by creating and sharing virtual postcards with scenes from the park.

Things to Do: What do you want to do in the monument? Visit a museum? Join a ranger program? Take a self-guided tour? Discover all the educational activities the monument has to offer.

News, Alerts & Events: What’s happening? Get news and events for all parks—or selected parks of your choosing.

What’s Next

We’re just getting started. If you don’t find what you are looking for now, check back regularly as our rangers continue to add more ways for you to experience each of our parks through the NPS app. The National Park Service is also planning to expand features, so stay tuned for more!

Using the App

Cellular service is limited within many areas of the monument and surrounding areas. In order to make use of the app, follow these simple steps prior to your arrival:

  1. Download the app.

  2. Search "Tule Lake National Monument"
  3. Below Alerts banner, click the toggle next to: "Save this park for offline use"

By doing this, most of the app content will be available for use in the monument. Even without cellular service, the app will be able to share your location on the map and bring up all site content.
