Tonto National Monument Hours:

Current Conditions:

Effective on October 1, 2020, Tonto National Monument will begin a phased approach to reopening following guidance from the White House, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and state and local public heath authorities.

Tonto National Monument will reopen the entrance road, the Visitor Center Park Store, and picnic area. Hours of operation are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Visitor Center Museum and all trails remain closed.

Normal Operations:

Visitor Center is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed Christmas Day).

The Lower Cliff Dwelling Trail is open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You must start your hike before 4 p.m. Park staff may close the trail to the Lower Cliff Dwelling due to safety concerns such as lightning, flooding, bee activity, or heat.

During summer months (June, July, and August), the Lower Cliff Dwelling trail is open from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. You must start your hike before 12:00 p.m.

The Upper Cliff Dwelling Trail is only accessible by guided tour November through April. Tours are limited, and you must have a reservation. Reservations open October 1st for the season. To make a reservation, you must call (928) 467-2241. For additional information, visit the Guided Tours page.
