Tonto National Monument Hours:
Normal Operations (September 1-May 31):
Visitor Center is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. except for Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. The visitor center will close early at 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
The Lower Cliff Dwelling Trail is open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You must start your hike before 4 p.m. On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve you must start your hike before 2 p.m. The monument is busiest on the weekends and it is recommended to visit mornings or weekdays. Park staff may close the trail to the Lower Cliff Dwelling due to safety concerns such as lightning, flooding, bee activity, or heat.
During summer months (June, July, and August), the Lower Cliff Dwelling trail is open from 8:00 a.m. to noon. You must start your hike before noon.
The Upper Cliff Dwelling Trail is only accessible by guided tour November through April. Tours are limited, and you must have a reservation. Reservations open October 1st for the season. To make a reservation, you must call (928) 467-2241. For additional information, visit the Guided Tours page.
