Tours will be offered to the Upper Cliff Dwelling January through April, every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday for the 2020 season. Due to flood damage from storms and burned area hazards, tours will not be available during November and December 2019 while the trail is being reconstructed. The trail will be opened in January 2020, barring any unforseen circumstances.
Make sure all hikers are prepared with good shoes, proper clothing, food, and water. This hike is designed for those who hike on a regular basis. Please reconsider if you have any serious health problems that may limit ability to finish this hike.
During the hike, park staff will stop several times to offer insight about the Sonoran Desert ecosystem and the prehistoric people who called it home.
The Upper Cliff Dwelling is a sensitive backcountry site. Smaller numbers help to reduce impact, but please remember to tread lightly. Leave everything the way you found it. All artifacts, rocks, and plants are protected and may not be removed or damaged in the National Monument. Learn more about the Upper Cliff Dwelling.
Pets are not allowed on the Upper Cliff Dwelling trail or in the Upper Cliff Dwelling. Be aware that this hike may be canceled at any time for safety reasons. Call (928) 467-2241 with any questions or for availability of reservations.
