Roosevelt, AZ - Tonto National Monument invites the public to assist with the collection of bird data for the National Audubon Society's 118th Annual Christmas Bird Count from Saturday, December 30, 2017 through Friday, January 5, 2018. Participants will check in at the Visitor Center to register and pick up materials before heading out into the field for bird observation. Data will be collected continually throughout each day during Monument hours, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Early arrival is recommended for best bird viewing. This event is free and open to the public.
This citizen science project will assist the National Audubon Society in its nationwide survey, and provide Tonto National Monument with an updated species inventory.
No camping is available at Tonto National Monument. The nearest camping is available at Windy Hill Campground in Tonto National Forest. For more information on camping visit http://www.fs.usda.gov/tonto/
