Thing to Do
Pause in the Summer Kitchen

Wrestle with our country’s past while learning the stories of the enslaved people who lived and worked at White Haven. Take a moment to pause inside the summer kitchen - the place where enslaved people prepared meals and cleaned laundry. Contemplate what it was like to work inside the building in the heat of summer. Reflect on the lives of these people who were enslaved and those who fought for freedom.
What does freedom mean to you?
- There is a paved path to the entrance, and it is all on one floor.
- There are interpretive panels with text and images.
