Looking for a quiet place to enjoy some fly fishing? The Pecos River meanders through the park grounds for three miles. The river is split up into three fishing beats of one mile each; reservations (on www.recreation.gov) and a valid New Mexico state fishing license are required for all anglers. Fly Fishing on the Pecos River can be a fun but challenging experience. Access to the different fishing beats can be inaccessible at times. For beats one and two, there is a steeply sloping hill down to the river. The path is a gravel and dirt road that can prove hazardous. Beat three is accessed by a 1.2 mile hike down a ranch road. This ranch road is dirt and gravel, There is no shade along the path.
