Fishing at Pecos NHP

Looking for a quiet place to enjoy some Fly Fishing? The Pecos River meanders through the park grounds for three miles. The river is split up into three fishing beats of one-mile each, and each beat accomodates three anglers.
A valid New Mexico Fishing License is required for this activity.

Fly Fishing on the Pecos River can be a fun but challenging experience. Access to the different fishing beats can be inaccessible at times. For beats one and two, there is a steeply sloping hill down to the river. The path is a gravel and dirt road that can prove hazardous. Beat three is accessed by a 1.2 mile hike down a ranch road. This ranch road is dirt and gravel, There is no shade along the path.
