Birding in Theodore Roosevelt National Park

Are you a birder? Do you never leave the house without a pair of binoculars and a field guide? Theodore Roosevelt National Park has you covered!
The three units of the park play host to more than 180 different species of bird throughout the year. From Western Meadowlarks to Golden Eagles, Black-billed Magpies to Lazuli Buntings, there are many wonderful bird species to see in the park, including passing migratory species like Sandhill Cranes in the spring and fall!
Stop in at one of our visitor centers to pick up a bird list, and enjoy your avian adventure!

Leashed pets may be walked along roads and road shoulders, sidewalks, parking areas, and in campgrounds and picnic areas.

Accessible parking is available at most paved parking lots and pullouts. Service animals are allowed, but must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet.
