I have extensive files and continuing research on the Africans and Black Americans who lived in northern New England, particularly in the Seacoast region of New Hampshire and southern Maine, during the UGRR period. We have recognized the abolitionist speakers who visited Portsmouth by placing one of the lecture halls on the Portsmouth Black Heritage Trail. I am conducting research to positively identify area residents who were involved in UGRR activites. My other affiliations include the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society, New England Chapter and I am a trustee of Strawbery Banke Museum in Portsmouth.
