Levi Coffin

A staunch Quaker, Levi Coffin was widely recognized as the "President of the Underground Railroad," with his home known as "Grand Central Station."

Coffin and his wife Catherine aided thousands of freedom seekers during their life-long work, in the antislavery movement.

Based in Newport, Indiana and Cincinnati, Ohio, Coffin was reunited with many freedom seekers he aided in escape during an 1844 visit to Canada.
