The Warnes Family of Glen Haven operated dune rides over the majestic dunes of Sleeping Bear for 40 years beginning in 1934. This photo shows one of the fleet of 1948 Fords fitted out with special tires that took visitor for thrilling rides over the dunes and along the shore. The rides were discontinued in 1978 to halt environmental damage to the fragile dunes. |
