Live Music to Commemorate 164th Anniversary of Battle of Corinth

CORINTH, Miss. — Shiloh National Military Park, in partnership with Visit Corinth, will commemorate the 164th anniversary of the Battle of Corinth with an evening of live music on Oct. 3 on the lawn of the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center. Set against the backdrop of one of Corinth’s most historic places, the concert will connect visitors to the music and stories of the Civil War. The two acts will offer traditional, yet fresh interpretations of music from America’s past.

“Music has a remarkable way of bringing history to life,” said Acting Superintendent Randy Martin. “This concert gives us an opportunity to remember the events of 1862 while gathering together as a community and enjoying some outstanding live music.”

Steve and Lisa Ball, a husband-and-wife musical duo, will open the concert. Coming from Columbus, Ohio, the Balls are known for historical music programs exploring the sounds of the American Civil War and related musical traditions, including the music of Stephen Foster and the Carter Family. Their performances combine music with stories about the songs, their historical context and the soldiers and musicians who heard and performed them. The duo also incorporates vintage instruments used during the Civil War era.

Headlining the evening will be Pride of the North Bank, a Muscle Shoals-based bluegrass band known for its blend of vintage country, bluegrass and Americana. Originally from Portland, Oregon, the group draws inspiration from legendary performers such as Bob Wills and Hank Williams. Featuring rich three-part harmonies and energetic performances, Pride of the North Bank has captivated audiences across the United States and Europe.

The concert is free and open to the public. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, invite friends and family and enjoy an evening of music.
