SEQUOIA AND KINGS CANYON NATIONAL PARKS, Calif. January 8, 2016– The Generals Highway in Sequoia National Park is now open until 5:00 p.m. tonight for visitor safety. Conditions will be reassessed tomorrow morning to determine when the road will re-open.
The road between the parks remains closed. Visitors cannot travel through Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks via the Generals Highway.
Weather is expected again this afternoon. Visitors need to be prepared for additional road hazards and rain. Rivers are expected to rise and are currently running very fast. Please don’t go near them. As the storms exit the area, temperatures are expected to drop.
Kings Canyon National Park remains open. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
