SEQUOIA AND KINGS CANYON NATIONAL PARKS, Calif. January 18, 2017 – Since 2015, the National Park Service has implemented a phased in approach to fee increases for Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. 2017 marks the completion of this project with entry fees for Motorcycles now $25 per individual from $20 in 2016 for a 7-days pass.

The phasing in of motorcycle fee increases was done in response to comments during public scoping in 2014 for proposed fee increases from motorcycle users. Based on their input, park management decided to phase in the increase in pricing for motorcycle users between 2016 and 2017. Below is a chart showing the current entrance fees.

Entrance Fees Current
Single Vehicle (7-Day Pass) $30
Annual Pass $50
Individual (7-Day Pass) $15
Motorcycle (7-Day Pass) $25/individual (2017)

Commercial tour flat fee rates remain at current rates. All interagency passes remain at current rates: Annual ($80), Senior ($10), Access (Free), and Military (Free).

“Entrance fees have supported many of the projects in the parks that enhance our visitor experience. This includes maintaining trails, installing exhibits in visitor centers, and even providing free shuttle busses in the parks that alleviate congestion during peak periods,” said Christy Brigham, acting Superintendent for Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.

In the fall of 2014, the National Park Service conducted a nationwide review of entrance fees. To solicit public input, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks launched a civic engagement campaign from November 10 through December 9, 2014. The park distributed a news release about potential fee increases on November 10 and posted key information on two websites, on social media, and conducted a public webinar. A total of 60 public comments were received through the official Planning, Environment, and Public Comment website and social media. Seventy percent of those who made comments were supportive of the fee increases.
