Atwell Campground in the Mineral King area of Sequoia National Park will reopen on July 2, just in time for the 4th of July holiday weekend. Reservations will open the morning of June 27 at 7 a.m. through Recreation.gov.

Access to Mineral King was closed in 2023 due to severe road damage from early 2023 storms. Road repairs to all sites damaged in 2023 are on track to be completed by June 28.

Cold Springs Campground in Mineral King may not reopen this season due to a high volume of hazard trees.

We are hopeful that we’ll be announcing the reopening date for Sentinel Campground in the Cedar Grove area of Kings Canyon National Park in the coming days but are waiting to see what impacts the local Fresno June Lightening Complex fires might have on operations for this area of the parks.
