KINGS CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Calif. January 11, 2020 – Yesterday morning, January 10, 2020, structural firefighters responded to a fully engulfed non-residential multi-use building in the Grant Grove Village inside Kings Canyon National Park. The fire is extinguished and the cause is under investigation.The building is utilized by the parks’ concessioner, Delaware North Companies, and contained kitchen, laundry, and restroom facilities for their staff. Due to the building’s design, such as a separating fire wall, the fire was confined to half the building. The building is not currently useable. There are no direct impacts to any visitor services and guest facilities remain open as scheduled.
The National Park Service was assisted by Engine 70 and Water Tender 70 from Hume Lake Fire & Rescue, and Tulare County Fire Department.
