International Archeology Day 2013

The Southeast Archeological Center was happy to co-host this year’s International Archeology Day event with the Florida Public Archaeology Network (NW), Cape Canaveral National Seashore, Florida State Parks, and Anthropological Society of Florida State University. The event was held a short distance from the annual Stone Crab Festival at the Fort San Marcos de Apalache state park. We were joined by hundreds of visitors curious about Archeology. Those who joined the festivities enjoyed atlatl throwing, pottery making, a talk by SEAC’s Stephen Andrew Wise, performances by the Mission San Luis theatre troupe, interacting with local colonial Spanish reenactors, and many informational sessions throughout the day.

With great weather and wonderful visitors, the event was an outstanding success. Thank you to all who joined us on Archeology day. The Southeast Archeological Center remains committed to educating the public about their cultural resources found at our National Parks. Looking forward to next year’s International Archeology Day!
