SEAC: Archeology in the Carribean: The Water Island Archeological Project

SEAC archeologists explored seven sites on a small island off St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands in 1998. Ruins of plantation great houses, slave cabins, and historic wells were examined, together with prehistoric Indian shell middens and an impressive series of World War II era military fortifications. A vast quantity of artifacts were recovered and are now being examined by a wide array of scientists.
