For over 80 years, the Summit Road has been a major attraction for visitors to Scotts Bluff National Monument. To ensure the continued viability of this historic road, a thorough inspection of the roadway surfaces, retaining walls, and drainage systems will take place during the morning of Wednesday, March 20, 2024. To facilitate the safety of the inspectors, the road will remain closed during the inspection process. We anticipate the inspection will be complete by noon on March 20th. Once the crew has completed their inspection, the road will open for the remainder of the normal operating hours that day. Last entry for motorized vehicles will be at 4 pm and all vehicles must be down off the road by 4:30 pm.Last updated: March 13, 2024
