The trek west along the route of the Oregon/California Trails was a difficult one. Emigrants walked an average of 15 miles per day. Once in camp, there were chores to be done: cooking, cleaning, mending clothing, and grazing and caring for animals. Still, many emigrants set aside some time to relax and have a little fun. Join Park Ranger Eric Grunwald at the outdoor amphitheater behind the monument visitor center at 7pm on Tuesday, June 11th for this FREE program to learn how emigrants spent their limited free time relaxing, playing, and enjoying music. This program is open to participants of all ages, especially the young and the young at heart. There will even be an opportunity to participate in some fun pioneer games! In the event of inclement weather, the program will move to inside the visitor center theater.
