The Civilian Conservation Corps, known as the CCC, was a voluntary work relief program during the Great Depression. Enrollees in this New Deal program planted trees and completed other important conservation and infrastructure projects in national parks, state parks, and national forests across the United States. One of these companies, Company 762, operated here at Scotts Bluff National Monument.

A new, temporary exhibit is on display in the monument visitor center, illustrated with historic photographs, two copies of the “Adobe Echo” Company 762 newspaper from the Scotts Bluff National Monument collection, clothing patches, and a mysterious clay tile on loan from the Legacy of the Plains Museum. Stop by the monument visitor center during normal operating hours to learn more about the daily lives of the men of Company 762, their accomplishments, and the legacy they’ve left at Scotts Bluff National Monument and other parks, forests, and monuments throughout the United States.
