Scotts Bluff National Monument has a self-guided, Junior Ranger activity booklet appropriate for visiting children 5 years and older. This program is a way to introduce children—and those young at heart—to the stories of the people who have visited Scotts Bluff in the past. Full-color booklets are available at the monument visitor center and a wooden badge is awarded to those who complete the requirements.

After completing the age-appropriate requirements described inside the booklet and reviewing their work with a ranger at the visitor center, participants are awarded an official Scotts Bluff Junior Ranger badge that is modeled after the badges that National Park Service rangers wear.

The Scotts Bluff Junior Ranger booklet is designed with place-based activities to be completed on a visit to the park. The monument is unable to mail out Junior Ranger booklets. If you are unable to visit Scotts Bluff National Monument, you can still learn about Scotts Bluff and the emigrant trails using our website. We have also put together an opportunity for you to become a Scotts Bluff National Monument Virtual Junior Ranger.
