The Herd is Here! Roosevelt Elk Herd Installation Arrives at Sagamore Hill
These elk will rest on the front lawn of the Theodore Roosevelt home, looking toward the iconic speaking porch, waiting to hear the words of Theodore Roosevelt and his promise of conservation. Constructed of aluminum, these full-scale, stylized elk mirror their natural surroundings.

Mather School Students Work to Restore Historic Shed at Sagamore Hill
A dozen students and a few teachers from the Mather Building Arts & Craftsmanship High School in New York City traveled every day for two weeks to work alongside the Maintenance Staff of Sagamore Hill National Historic Site to help stabilize and preserve a historic shed building pertaining to Theodore Roosevelt, Jr.’s Old Orchard Home.

Sagamore Hill Hosts Eclipse Viewing Event
On Monday, August 21, Sagamore Hill National Historic Site hosted an event for visitors to view the partial solar eclipse that was experienced across North America. Though not in the path of totality, Oyster Bay and Long Island was lucky to have clear weather to view the 70 percent obscured sun.

Weekend Shuttle Service to Sagamore Hill to Begin on June 18
This summer, Sagamore Hill National Historic Site is partnering with local community organizations to provide a free shuttle connecting people to parks. On weekends from June 18 until Labor Day, vans will travel to and from Theodore Roosevelt’s home on Long Island, nearby Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) stations, and downtown Oyster Bay. This service is made possible through the generous support of the Life Enrichment Center and The WaterFront Center, both in Oyster Bay.
