Arrival of Monsoon Signals Easing of Fire Restrictions in Southeast Arizona
Due to widespread precipitation across the area, additional rain in the weather forecast, and a rise in fuel moistures, it has been determined that the likelihood of wildfire has lessened to the degree that the restrictions can be rescinded.

Dry Conditions Trigger Increased Fire Restrictions in Southeastern Arizona 2017
Beginning June 26, 2017, fire restrictions are in effect at Saguaro National Park. Charcoal, coal and wood campfires are prohibited. Fireworks are prohibited at all times. No smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle.

Possible Heat Related Visitor Fatality in Saguaro National Park
On the afternoon of Saturday, May 27, Bradley Hughes of Geneva, Illinois was found deceased on the Gould Mine Trail within the Tucson Mountain District (west) of Saguaro National Park. Cause of death is unknown, though the 34 year old male had an empty hydration bladder and no other water with him when he was found. Heat or dehydration may have been a factor.

Leah McGinnis named new superintendent of Saguaro National Park
DENVER — Leah McGinnis, a 28-year veteran of the National Park Service (NPS), has been named superintendent of Saguaro National Park in Arizona by NPS Intermountain Region Director Sue Masica. McGinnis, who recently completed a four-month stint as acting superintendent of Saguaro, is superintendent of Capitol Reef National Park in Utah. She will begin her new assignment the week of Feb. 19
