San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park welcomes the community to an open house on Thursday, November 5 from 4-7pm in the park Visitor Center, 499 Jefferson Street, San Francisco, CA 94109 (at the corner of Hyde and Jefferson Streets). The park is seeking comment and feedback about its
Accessibility Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan (SETP), and Foundation Document. Staff will also provide updates about the ongoing Promenade rehabilitation and C.A. Thayer rigging projects. For more information or directions, please call 415-561-7006 or visit www.nps.gov/safr.

The goal of an Accessibility Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan (SETP) is to design an effective plan to improve the park's accessibility by upgrading services, activities and programs and instilling a culture of universal access. The park's SETP includes findings from a self-evaluation process, and a strategy for improving accessibility. The SETP resulted from the work of a team including planning, design, and construction professionals; and interpretive, resource, visitor safety, maintenance, and accessibility specialists. A copy of the SETP is available for download and comment at https://parkplanning.nps.gov/SAFRAccessibilityPlan

A Foundation Document involves revisiting a national park unit’s core mission and significance, most important resources and values, and the interpretive themes that tell the park’s important stories. Although the Foundation Document is not a decision-making document and does not include actions or management
strategies, it describes a shared understanding of what is most important about the park. In this capacity, the Foundation Document will reestablish the underlying guidance for future management and planning decisions for the National Park Service at San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. Park staff, planners, and partners began working on this key, guiding document in early 2015. A draft of the Foundation Document will be available for download and comment at https://parkplanning.nps.gov/SAFRFoundation.
