Chanteyman Chris Maden presents an evening of shipboard work songs.

On the wooden deck of the 1886 sailing ship Balclutha berthed at Hyde Street Pier in San Francisco.
Cost:
Donation, sliding scale: $20 to $10.

Enjoy the driving rhythms of working chanteys, and the beauty of seafaring ballads, from the deck of the 1886 full-rigged ship Balclutha with one of the nation’s outstanding performers of chanteys (shipboard work songs) and other seafaring songs. Accompanying himself on concertina, Chris Maden is on the chantey staff at the Mystic Seaport Museum in Mystic, Connecticut, and has performed at the Portsmouth, New Hampshire Sea Music Festival and at San Francisco’s own Festival of the Sea.
Located at the west end of Fisherman’s Wharf, San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park includes a fleet of historic ships, Visitor Center, Maritime Museum, Maritime Research Center, and the Aquatic Park Historic District.
