San Antonio Missions National Historical Park Recruiting for Two Volunteer Program Management Positions

San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is seeking enthusiastic, organized, community- and people-oriented individuals for two unique opportunities in the park’s volunteer program.

 

Mission Continues Fellow

 

The Mission Continues Fellow will work alongside San Antonio Missions National Historical Park’s Volunteer Coordinator 20 hours per week for six months. The Mission Continues Fellowship Program empowers post-9/11 veterans, Guardsmen and Reservists to deploy on new missions in their communities. The fellowship combines volunteer service, professional development and personal growth to deliver an impact in the San Antonio community.  

 

The Fellow will assist the Volunteer Coordinator with a wide range of program management duties. The Fellow will also work with the Park Ranger for Community Outreach to identify potential partnerships and outreach opportunities at local military installations as well as in the local veteran/retiree community. The Fellow may assist park rangers at special events in the park and around the City as well as distribute Military and Access Passes at local military installations, special events/festivals. Honorably discharged veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces having served a minimum of 24 months (total) after September 11, 2001, are eligible to apply. Applications with less than 24 months of service due to extenuating circumstances or with various characters of discharge will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Housing is not provided. Community Volunteer Ambassador

The Community Volunteer Ambassador (CVA) will work alongside the Volunteer Coordinator full time (40 hours per week) for 50 weeks. The CVA will engage diverse groups in volunteerism, service-learning, and community activities on behalf of San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. The CVA will also assist the Volunteer Coordinator and park rangers at special events in the park and local community including volunteer recruitment events, festivals and parades. The ideal CVA candidate is a recent college graduate who is well connected with San Antonio-area universities and colleges. A stipend is provided by Northwest Youth Corps.
