Join park staff and community partners from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm on June 2 for free, family-friendly activities in celebration of National Trails Day at Rancho de las Cabras, 375 County Road 144, Floresville, TX, 78114. Rancho de las Cabras was the ranch associated with Mission San Francisco de la Espada in south San Antonio.
National Trails Day Activities:
8:30 am--Guided bird walk with Mark Scully, Audubon Society
9:30 am--History & Archeology of Rancho with Archeologist Susan Snow, National Park Service
10:00 am--Guided bird walk with Mark Scully, Audubon Society
11:30 am--Prairie Restoration & Rancho Landscapes with Natural Resources Program Manager Greg Mitchell, National Park Service
Mission Heritage Partners, the official friends group of San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, will be at the event to share information about how visitors can become partners in supporting San Antonio Missions. Visitors are also encouraged to explore the trails on their own from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm and bring a picnic lunch and blanket to enjoy the site. Rancho is undeveloped. There will be a porta potty and water cooler available. Visitors should wear closed toed shoes and appropriate bug and sun protection. The next public day at Rancho de las Cabras will be National Public Lands Day on September 22, 2018.
