The remodel of Rocky Mountain National Park's Beaver Meadows Visitor Center lobby and porch is complete. Please join park staff for an open house on Saturday, May 19, at 7:00 p.m. and see the changes to the visitor desk, new lift, bathroom remodel, and porch addition.  Our special program given by Jim Disney will highlight the evening and spotlight the new audio-visual system in the auditorium.

What does it take to film in the remote locations in Rocky Mountain National Park? How can video photographers manage large and heavy equipment to get the perfect shots they need? Join special guest speaker Jim Disney and park staff to learn the answers to these questions as the park celebrates the making of the park's film Spirit of the Mountains. The 23-minute High Definition film was produced in 2002 and 2003 yet until this year, following a renovation of the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center, could not be shown in true High Definition. Following a behind the scenes look at the production of the film - watch Spirit of the Mountains in full High Definition. After the program, visitors are welcome to explore all the new renovations in the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center.

Jim Disney assisted Rocky Mountain National Park staff and the National Park Service's media services from Harpers Ferry during the creation of the park film. Mr. Disney is a self- taught professional artist whose work has been shown in numerous exhibitions, galleries and museums throughout the United States. He has been an Artist in Residence in Rocky Mountain National Park focusing on mountains and landscapes of the Western United States.

Jim accomplished 100 ascents to named and unnamed significant summits in the Western United States and Mexico including Mount McKinley, all fifty-four 14ers in Colorado as well as all 126 named summits in Rocky Mountain National Park. In addition to his mountaineering skills, Jim has bicycled across the state of Colorado under 24hrs, riding the 326 miles from the Wyoming border to the New Mexico border.
