Research - Elk and Vegetation Management

Elk graze in Moraine Park during late fall

NPS/Ann Schonlau

By the end of the 20th century there was growing concern over the effects of abundant elk on vegetation conditions in the park. This led to new research that informed the need for an Elk and Vegetation Management Plan. Ongoing research still guides the plan's implementation strategies used in the park.
