May 14, 2018 Rocky Mountain National Park is planning to remove four existing structures that are extremely dilapidated and contain hazardous asbestos and lead materials. The structures are part of a historic district. The structures are located in the park headquarters area; three near the Alpine Hotshot Dormitory and one along Ptarmigan Lane. The park will salvage any reusable materials from the structures. These structures will be replaced with two new bunkhouses, which will provide 16 additional much-needed bed spaces for seasonal park employees. |
