Join National Park Service Ranger & Naturalist, Jerry Hightower, for a walk through a beautiful hardwood forest supporting a thriving diversity of native ferns, flowering shrubs, and wildflowers. We will hike through xeric oak-hickory forest and mesic ravine forest. Imagine this area as farm fields or pine plantation for the mills instead of forest as we walk along the traces of nineteenth century farm roads. Look for paw prints of the many species of wildlife that thrive here and perhaps see a salamander or two from the tiny tributaries.

Dress for the weather; wear very comfortable hiking shoes and dress in layers so that you can adjust to changes in the temperature and your activity level. Don't forget drinking water, binoculars, hand lens, notebook, and camera! There are no restroom facilities at this location.

Note: The $5 Daily Park Pass is not required for vehicles displaying a current Annual Park Pass or an America the Beautiful Pass!
