OMAHA, Neb. — National Park Service (NPS) Regional Director Bert Frost has announced the selection of Teri Gage as superintendent of Pullman National Monument in Illinois. A 32-year veteran of the NPS, Gage is currently chief of business services at Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in Wisconsin and will assume her new role in April 2020.

“Teri has an extensive background in park administration and management,” said Frost. “She has proven herself to be an accomplished leader, working with partners and staff to help connect the public to their national parks. Teri is sure to add tremendous value as superintendent of Pullman National Monument.”

“I am truly honored and humbled to be selected as the superintendent of Pullman National Monument,” Gage said about her new assignment. “The dedicated staff, partners, and volunteers of Pullman have already made great progress. I look forward to working with them to complete the restoration of the historic clock tower building and opening the visitor center that will be housed there. I’m excited for the opportunity to help shape the future of this unique resource and to share the important story of the monument.”

A native of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Gage started her NPS career as a clerk-typist at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in 1986 and has gone on to serve in administrative management positions at several parks throughout the Midwest. She was the first permanent employee at Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site and served eight years at Buffalo National River where she launched a successful community partners program that strengthened park relationships with businesses and organizations in the surrounding communities. In 2015, she served as acting superintendent at the President William Jefferson Clinton Birthplace Home National Historic Site in Hope, Arkansas. In her current position at Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, she manages a diverse portfolio that includes the administration of a $3 million budget, human resources, information technology, acquisition, property management, commercial services, and internal controls. She is chair of the Midwest Region Administrative Advisory Committee.

Gage studied sociology from Northern Michigan University. She completed a concentrated course in cultural heritage tourism at George Washington University and received a Professional Certificate and has completed the Executive Leadership program at SC Johnson College of Business, Cornell University.

Gage is married to Paul Taylor, a 15-year veteran of the NPS. They enjoy hiking, snowshoeing, boating, and travel. They look forward to exploring Chicago together and being part of the historic Pullman community.
