Prince William Forest Park Visitor Center

The main visitor center for Prince William Forest Park is located at:

18170 Park Entrance Rd
Triangle, VA 22172

In the visitor center area there is:

  • A paved asphalt parking lot,

  • A visitor drop-off area in the paved circle in front of the visitor center,

  • A restroom building to the left of the Visitor Center building,

  • Visitor Center, and

  • Pved paths connecting all of these places.

Visitor Center

Information Desk

  • The visitor center is generally very quiet. Visitors can exit outside to find a quieter space if it becomes too loud in the ranger station.
  • Junior Ranger activity booklets are available for anyone to take on a small table near the park passport stamp and park event schedule sign.
  • Rangers are available to answer questions.
  • Rangers also have handouts about the history, plants, animals, and activities in the park area.

Exhibits

  • There are museum artifacts in plastic cases that tell the story of the history of the area.
  • Exhibits on natural history of the area have touchable parts and models of animals and plants found in the park.
  • An exhibit on Morse code features a machine that emits high pitched beeps when pressed.
  • The central exhibit features a touchable 3D map of the park with trails, roads, and public areas marked.

Playground

Currently the playground area is under a major renovation starting in February 2024. When completed it will feature: tactile and sensory components.
