IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Mr. DeRouen introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on the Public Lands and ordered to be printed

A BILL

To authorize the placing of lands acquired or which may be acquired hereafter near Dumfries, Virginia, under the National Park Service for recreation purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior, acting through the National Park Service, be, and herby is, authorized to assume jurisdiction for the purpose of developing and maintaining thereon public recreational facilities over any and all lands which have been or may be acquired for this purpose by the Federal Government in the Chopawamsic area, located in Prince William and Stafford Counties, in the State of Virginia.


Sec. 2. The Secretary of the Interior, acting through the National Park Service, may operate said facilities directly or by contract or contracts with any individual, organization, association, or corporation.

Sec. 3. In the operation of said facilities, whether directly or by contract, the Secretary of the Interior is authorized to make whatever charges for the use of said facilities, to be placed in the Treasury to the credit of miscellaneous receipts, as he may deem proper.

Sec. 4. The Secretary of the Interior is authorized to prescribe such regulations as may be necessary to effectuate the purposes of this Act.

Sec. 5. There are hereby authorized to be appropriate such funds as may be necessary for the maintenance and operation of said facilities.
