National Park Service Starts General Management Plan Amendment at Point Reyes National Seashore and the North District of Golden Gate National Recreation Area
The National Park Service will begin planning for a General Management Plan Amendment to address all lands currently under agricultural lease/permits within Point Reyes National Seashore and the north district of Golden Gate National Recreation Area. This announcement initiates a 30-day public comment period that will end on November 15, 2017, during which the Park Service will host two open house meetings.

National Park Service Announces Settlement of Litigation on Management of Ranching at Point Reyes National Seashore
The U.S. Department of Justice today filed a multi-party settlement agreement in federal court that if accepted by the court, resolves the litigation challenging Point Reyes National Seashore's General Management Plan and its management of ranching.

Point Reyes National Seashore has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Project H.O.P.E. for shared use of the park's Morgan Horse Ranch. Project H.O.P.E. is a local non-profit that provides equine assisted therapy activities to assist veterans.

Beach Closures for the Threatened Snowy Plover at Point Reyes National Seashore from Memorial Day to Labor Day 2017
A closure of the beach area between 0.5 miles north of the North Beach parking lot and 0.35 miles south of the mouth of Abbotts Lagoon is in effect for weekends and federal holidays between May 27 and September 4, 2017, to ensure the survival of federally-threatened western snowy plover nests and chicks within this area during busy weekends.
