National Park Service Announces Settlement of Litigation on Management of Ranching at Point Reyes National Seashore
The U.S. Department of Justice today filed a multi-party settlement agreement in federal court that if accepted by the court, resolves the litigation challenging Point Reyes National Seashore's General Management Plan and its management of ranching.

Project H.O.P.E. at Point Reyes National Seashore
Point Reyes National Seashore has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Project H.O.P.E. for shared use of the park's Morgan Horse Ranch. Project H.O.P.E. is a local non-profit that provides equine assisted therapy activities to assist veterans.

Beach Closures for the Threatened Snowy Plover at Point Reyes National Seashore from Memorial Day to Labor Day 2017
A closure of the beach area between 0.5 miles north of the North Beach parking lot and 0.35 miles south of the mouth of Abbotts Lagoon is in effect for weekends and federal holidays between May 27 and September 4, 2017, to ensure the survival of federally-threatened western snowy plover nests and chicks within this area during busy weekends.

Tourism to Point Reyes National Seashore and Other San Francisco Bay Area National Parks Create Over $1 Billion in Economic Benefits in 2016
A new National Park Service report shows that 2.4 million visitors to Point Reyes National Seashore in 2016 spent $107 million in communities near the park. That spending supported 1,361 jobs in the local area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $135 million.

From March 1 through June 30, an annual closure of Drakes Estero, the westernmost end of Limantour Spit, Double Point, and the eastern side of Hog Island is implemented to protect harbor seals during their pupping season.
