On November 15 at the Bear Valley Visitor Center, Point Reyes National Seashore will host an electronic waste recycling collection, joining thousands of local organizers holding recycling events across the country to celebrate America Recycles Day.

The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory and a Beach Hazards Statement for large surf and sneaker waves, which is in effect from late Thursday night through Friday evening. A Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued for Thursday, October 13 through Sunday, October 16, 2016.

California Coastal Cleanup Day 2016 at Drakes Beach and Every Kid in a Park (EKIP) Program
On Saturday, September 17, Point Reyes National Seashore is hosting a beach cleanup at Drakes Beach for the annual California Coastal Cleanup Day. There will be a special education program for 4th graders and children about plastic and the ocean. After the education program, children are invited to help clean up the beach and receive their EKIP pass if they are 4th graders.

Point Reyes National Seashore Begins Clean-up and Restoration of Drakes Estero
Point Reyes National Seashore announced today that the restoration of Drakes Estero, a 2,500-acre wilderness estuary within the park, will begin this week. Workers will remove an estimated 500 tons of marine debris. They will extract and dispose of 5 miles of dock-like wooden racks, and clean several acres of plastic and other man-made debris on the estero floor and sandbars.

Artists Explore Climate Change in Point Reyes National Seashore through Artist-in-Resident Pilot Program
From August 5 until August 12, in honor of the National Park Service's Centennial, and in service to one of our most pressing environmental concerns, a program called Climate Change at the Western Edge will support six artists to explore and contribute to the conversation about climate change while living in residence on or near Point Reyes National Seashore.

Point Reyes National Seashore Announces Public Scoping for the Preparation of an Environmental Assessment for the Lagunitas Creek Winter Habitat and Floodplain Enhancement Project – Phases I and II
The National Park Service is beginning the preparation of an Environmental Assessment for Phase I and II of a Winter Habitat and Floodplain Enhancement Project on Lagunitas Creek. The project is proposed by the Marin Municipal Water District as part of the district's efforts to improve habitat for coho salmon and steelhead. A four-week comment period will close at the end of the business day on Wednesday, August 3, 2016.
