Update: Lighthouse Area Closure Is Extended Until at Least Early November

September 21, 2018 Posted by: John Dell'Osso

The contractor has notified the park that the initial phase of the restoration project (asphalt removal, installation of new concrete walkways, and other repairs) will not be completed until early to mid-November. As a result, the temporary closure of all areas beyond (e.g., west of) the Lighthouse Visitors' Parking Lot will be extended until early to mid-November.

Once the initial phase has been completed, visitors will be permitted to walk along the newly paved pathway from the visitors' parking lot to the observation deck. The stairs leading down to the lighthouse, however, will remain closed until the entire restoration project is completed, which is currently estimated to occur in April 2019.
