Spring music: the Lyrid meteor shower is active between April 16 and April 25 with approximately 20 meteors per hour, peaking on the 21st.
Spring has completely arrived with annual delights: the dogwood tree at an old cabin site on the south or left side as you travel out Bear Valley Trail is blooming. By-the-wind sailors are piled up on park beaches. Stranded hydroids as the wind patterns change, they look like piles of crumpled blue and clear cellophane.
The shuttle season was extended this year; it officially ended April 12 and will return the first weekend after Christmas.
On the calendar for April 20 from 11 am to 3 pm at the Red Barn: the annual, collaborative Blood Drive between the West Marin Community Resource Center and the park. Pre-register, please, at www.bloodheroes.com.
The park is sponsoring an e-waste collection on Earth Day, April 22, from 11 am to 1 pm. No early birds! For a complete list of acceptable items, check the park website https://www.nps.gov/pore or call Dale Dualan at 415-464-5286.
