Pony Express riders delivered the mail between Missouri and California in 1860 and 1861. Guittard Station was built by Vermillion Creek, a dandy stop in Kansas for the tired riders. It's time to go back in time . . .

Frenchman George Guittard built a 12-room, two story lodge in 1859 to feed and supply the passerby. Little did he know that his dwelling and stables would soon accommodate Pony Express riders as well! (710 KB pdf)
